A small art test I did over a few days to create a realistic milk crate for a company I can't name. I was given one image and the parameters of 2,000 polygons and using a PBR pipeline to output an Albedo, Roughness, Metalness, AO and Normal map.
Treating this kind of like a hero prop, I knew I wanted to give proper geometry to the mesh, including the holes on the bottom as there was no mention of an alpha map. I still had to keep them low however due to circles quickly adding tris. So I really tried to rely on the highpoly and normal map bake to round them out.
Having focused on stylized art for the past 5+ years, it was definitely a challenge producing a realistic asset. There are things I would address if I were to do another pass at the textures but overall I'm fairly pleased with the result!
